As stated previously, every criminal investigation report, photo and audio file highlighted in this website was obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), or through other means of accessing federal, state and local government public information.

I have had the pleasure of working with a couple of truly wonderful agency FOIA officers, of particular excellence was an Assistant District Attorney from the Queens County DA’s Office.  Conversely, there are agencies like the City of Yonkers, and their police department, that place transparency and accountability at the very bottom of their priority list. 

In general, the FOIA process is frequently long and frustrating, requiring patience, but also perseverance and persistence.  I’ve attached some of my FOIA correspondence that relate to this research project.
