Investigative reporter Maury Terry linked the Process Church to the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), and claimed both as part of a grand satanic conspiracy in his 1987 book, “The Ultimate Evil.”
In Yonkers, Det. Kevin Murphy began to delve into the background of the Son of Sam case, and uncovered a litany of things that required further investigation. Det. Murphy identified several associates of David Berkowitz that hung around Untermyer Park in Yonkers, NY – they called themselves “The Children.” “The Children” were reported to be an offshoot of the much larger, “Process Church of the Final Judgement.”
According to declassified F.B.I. reports, David Berkowitz was a member of the Process Church, and was associated with the individuals running the “Best Friends Animal Sanctuary” (BFAS). Leaders of BFAS were allegedly involved with Berkowitz in several of the Son of Sam murders. F.B.I. sources within the NYC Police Department further allege that Mary Ann de Grimston herself, along with other Process members, were involved in the Son of Sam murders.
A brief history of BFAS indicates that it has its roots from a religious organization previously known as The Process Church of the Final Judgment. Robert de Grimston founded the Church in 1967. In 1974, the Process Church changed its name to “The Foundation Faith of the Millennium.” In 1980, the name was changed to the “Foundation Faith of God.” In 1993, “Foundation Faith of God” changed its corporation name to the “Best Friends Animal Sanctuary” (BFAS). BFAS purchased 3000-acres in southern Utah and is now organized as an institution devoted to the charitable and religious purpose for the prevention of cruelty to animals.
