The following newspaper articles highlight the fact that the NYPD tried very hard to discredit Det. Cinotti’s Berkowitz accomplice-theory by accusing the detective of the following: 

  • Traveling to Minot, ND to interview witnesses without official NYPD authorization;
  • Sharing confidential investigation information with journalist Maury Terry; 
  • Interviewing witnesses in the presence of journalist Maury Terry; 
  • Basing his claims on information provided to him by Veronica Lueken, a Queens, NY woman with very unorthodox religious practices.
