The audio files provided herein are tape-recordings of conversations conducted between Queens County District Attorney’s Office criminal investigators and various “persons of interest,” as they related to the David Berkowitz “Son of Sam” case.
Assistant District Attorney Herbert Leifer headed the investigation for District Attorney Santucci, and he was assisted by Assistant District Attorney Michael Armienti, and detectives George Byrd and Tom Mulderink of the Queens DA’s Criminal Investigation Division – Homicide Bureau.
These recordings were made over four decades ago, and obviously reflect the technology of the time – tape cassette. In a very small number of instances audio quality is slightly to moderately degraded, however, the overall quality of the majority of the tape recordings is very good.
